A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

Pegasus
the winged horse
Medusa's story ends with a sword, and then it doesn't end. Out of her opened neck came a white horse with wings, already running, as if he had been waiting inside her all those cursed years for a way out. Whatever was gentle in her, whatever the gods took when they made her a monster, it left on four hooves and never looked back. He carried a hero for a while, made springs where he stepped, and finally he carried nobody at all, just himself, up. Her last gift is still flying.
