A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

A Mystic Card · the constellation over you now
Chrysomallos
the golden ram
The golden ram flew with two children on its back, Phrixus gripping the wool, Helle behind him, and the sea below going on and on. It flew as steady as a thing can fly, and still the girl slipped. That water carries her name now, the Hellespont, a whole strait for one lost hold. The ram landed with one child and a grief it never put down. Rescue is real even when it's partial, that's the hard mercy of this story. It saved who it could, and the sky kept it anyway.
You got out, and getting out counts even if it wasn't clean.
