A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's real stars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

Karkinos
the giant crab
Hera sent a crab to bite Heracles while he was already wrestling the Hydra. The crab failed and was crushed, but Hera lifted it into the stars for the courage of trying. A small loyalty rewarded too late.
