A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's real stars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

Zeus
the swan
Zeus took swan-form to come to Leda. Or it was Apollo, mourning Phaethon's death, who walked the river until the gods made him a swan to ease his grief. The constellation holds both stories, a god in disguise, and a god in mourning. The same shape either way.
