Cetus
the sea-monster
The gods put the monster in the sky, which sounds like an honor until you see where. Cetus drifts through a dark, star-poor stretch the old ones called the Water, dim company, no bright neighbors, the sea-monster kept like a specimen in a jar of night. It's one of the largest constellations and one of the least visited. That's the fate of the almost, the disaster that got prevented, huge and quiet and slowly forgotten. The sky keeps it as a memory, not a threat. What almost happened deserves a marker too.
