For the rest of his life, Heracles wore the lion. Head as a hood, hide down his back, the unpierceable made personal. The first labor became the armor for the other eleven, which is how it works when you actually finish something hard, it stops being the obstacle and starts being the equipment. The sky kept the lion too, mane of stars rising in spring, both things at once, the beast that couldn't be beaten and the coat it became.
