A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

Astraea
the last just goddess
The soft ground gave way, no longer a place for scales of truth to rest. She felt the weight, heavy and cold, of humanity’s sharpening edge, the shadows lengthening around small kindnesses. Astraea, last to hold the gentle thread, simply rose. Not in anger, but a sigh, taking her balance, her harvest of forgotten peace. Up, up to the velvet dark, leaving a silence where her bare footprints once lay.
Putting the good things in safekeeping is not the same as giving up.
