A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

A Mystic Card · the constellation over you now
Orion
the hunter
Blind, he learned the world by its sounds, the sea on his left, gulls, the hammering of a forge. Orion walked toward the sunrise because someone said the sun could heal him, and it did, light filling his ruined eyes like water into a dry well. You would think a man given his sight back would look more carefully where he stepped. He didn't. He boasted he'd hunt every animal on earth, and the earth sent up one small answer with a stinger. Big men fall to small things. The sky keeps him anyway.
The small thing you're dismissing deserves your respect.
