A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

A Mystic Card · the constellation over you now
Ladon
the dragon at the apples
Ladon never slept, that was the job. Coiled around the apple tree in the garden at the edge of the world, gold overhead, evening light that never quite finished setting. A hundred years of the same circle, the same watching, and he was good at it, faithful the way only a creature with one purpose can be. Then a man came with a song instead of a sword, and Ladon, who had never once rested, finally closed his eyes. Even guards get to put it down eventually.
Faithfulness is a skill, count yours as work even when nobody sees the watch.
