A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

A Mystic Card · the constellation over you now
Andromeda
the chained maiden
The boast, a wind-blown seed, bloomed into a terrible harvest. Andromeda, bound to the rock, watched the gray sky, the dark water. The beast's shadow fell first, cold wings beating the air. Then, another shadow, faster, sharper, a flash of sword-light, the Gorgon’s gaze turned on the horror. Iron links, so tight on her skin, loosened, and the taste of salt on her lips became the taste of sudden, improbable freedom.
The worst part is already behind you, even if the water's still cold.
