A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

A Mystic Card · the constellation over you now
Zeus
the bull
Two families of grieving daughters ride the bull's shoulders. The Pleiades, seven sisters huddled close as a handful of seeds. The Hyades, the rainy ones, who cried so long for their dead brother the gods hung them where their weeping could water the earth. The bull carries them the way a big animal carries birds, hardly noticing, and somehow the whole shape is gentler for it. He is half a god, half a kidnapping, half a continent's name. The sisters are the honest part.
