A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

Karkinos
the giant crab
Hera watched from wherever gods watch, hating Heracles, sending what she had, and what she had that day was a crab. It was crushed inside a minute. Here's the strange soft part of a hard goddess, she didn't forget it. She lifted the broken little body into the zodiac, gave it a place among lions and archers and bulls, the faintest constellation of the twelve, but there. A small loyalty rewarded too late is still rewarded. Even Hera, mid-grudge, knew that showing up for someone deserves a permanent address.
The small brave thing you did counted, even if the room didn't notice.
