A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

A Mystic Card · the constellation over you now
Callisto
the great bear
The worst part was keeping her mind. Callisto turned bear kept everything, the memory of her own hands, her son's small weight, the vows she'd made to Artemis before a god wore her lady's face and broke them for her. Years in a body that couldn't speak. Then a hunter in a clearing, grown tall, her boy, arrow rising, and she stood up not to fight but because she knew him. Zeus caught the moment before it became the unbearable thing. He put them both in the sky. She circles there, still keeping everything.
You kept yourself through the change, that's the victory nobody clapped for.
