A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

Aphrodite and Eros
the tied fish
The boy remembered the noise most, Typhon tearing the sky behind them, a sound like mountains arguing. Then his mother's hand, then scales, then the cold green hush of the Euphrates. Eros was a god, but he was also somebody's child that day, swimming hard in the dark with a cord at his tail tugging, mother, still here, mother, still here. Fear passes. What you tied yourself to during the fear, that stays. He kept the knot. So did the sky.
You can feel the tug, answer it.
