A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

Chiron
the gentle centaur
The pain would not end because he could not end, that was the trap of it, immortality holding the wound open like a door that won't shut. So Chiron made the strangest trade in the old stories. He gave his forever to Prometheus, the fire-thief chained to a rock, one sufferer buying out another, and in exchange he received the one gift gods can't usually grant, an ending. Then, finally, rest. Zeus set him among the southern stars, huge and bright and calm. Letting go was the last thing he taught, and the largest.
Tend your own wound with the same patience you offer everyone else's.
