A reading-room window onto the sky
Mystic Cards
A Mystic Card takes the constellation riding highest over you right now, where you stand, and hands you the old Greek myth behind its name, painted in our own hand, with the constellation's realstars laid over it in their true positions. Draw what's near, or draw at random.
It isn't a fortune. It's an invitation, sit with an ancient story for a minute and notice what it echoes in your own week. The constellation overhead changes through the night and the seasons; or pick any of the 33 below.

Arcas
the small bear
Every lost sailor for three thousand years has looked for the same small star, the one that doesn't move, and it hangs at the tail of a boy. Arcas nearly killed his own mother in a clearing, not knowing her, and the sky's solution was strange and complete, put him beside her forever, make him the still point, so that no one who steers by him is ever as lost as he was that day. The child who almost did the unforgivable now brings everyone home. That's not punishment. That's what redemption looks like, working.
Be the still point today, someone is steering by you.
