Upright
A rider comes in slow from the cold with a cup held out like a gift, all charm and warm intent. This is the romantic, the one who arrives with the flowers, the poem, the carefully chosen apology, whether that's you or someone in your life. The card honors the gesture. Just watch whether it's followed by the long quiet work of staying, the cup is real and so is what comes after the cup.
Reversed
The cup is still held out but the warmth behind it has gone cold, the sweet gesture with nothing under it, the romance that doesn't last past the third week. Or it's the moodiness, the broken word, the tenderness that vanishes when feeling gets hard, so the card asks for follow-through. Anyone can write the poem, the work is living in the room after.
In the imagery
A horseman rides in unhurried from the dusk, a cup lifted forward in offering, his coat damp with night and a few flowers in his other hand. The candlelight catches the gold of the cup, the rest of the apothecary hushed around him. The painting shows the lovely opening gesture, and quietly asks what is done once the cup is set down.
