Upright
A robed figure stands with head bowed before three spilled cups. Two cups behind them are still standing. A bridge in the distance. The Five of Cups is grief, narrowly focused. The card doesn't tell you not to mourn the spilled cups. It just reminds you that there are two still upright behind you, and a bridge to walk when you're ready. The losses are real. They are not the whole story.
Reversed
The figure turns around. The Five of Cups reversed is the slow acceptance — the moment you notice the two cups that didn't spill, the moment forgiveness becomes possible, the moment you stop standing in the puddle. Sometimes it's the opposite — you've moved on before the grief was done, and the unprocessed weight is showing up sideways. The card asks for both feet on the bridge.
