Upright

Three cups overturned in a dark cloak of spilled tea, and a figure bent over the wreck of them, not yet able to turn. But two cups still stand upright behind, full and waiting, and a doorway glows further off. This is grief gone narrow, the eye caught on what was lost. The card will not tell you to stop mourning the spill. It only whispers that two are still standing, and the door is still warm.

Reversed

You turn, finally, and notice the two cups that never tipped, and forgiveness becomes a thing you could reach. Or the other way, you walked off before the grief was finished, and the unwept weight is leaking out sideways now.

In the imagery

By candlelight three cups lie spilled across dark wood, the liquid soaking into a fall of dried rose gone brown. A hooded figure stoops over them with their back to two cups still full on a far shelf, and a lit doorway beyond. The turned back is grief, and the two upright cups are the rest of the story it cannot yet see.
