Upright

A blindfolded figure on a stone bench, two crossed swords held over the chest, the sea behind. The Two of Swords is the stalemate — the decision you can't quite make because the cost of either side is too clear. The card doesn't push you to choose. It asks you to take the blindfold off. Some decisions only stay impossible while you refuse to look at them.

Reversed

The blindfold comes off. The Two of Swords reversed is the moment information arrives that breaks the stalemate — sometimes welcome, sometimes painful. The decision becomes possible because it's no longer evenly weighted. Sometimes it's the opposite: the stalemate has gone on so long it's calcified. The card asks for movement. Either choice is better than the bench.
