Upright

One blade rises clean from the dark, catching the single bright line of candlelight along its edge, and for a moment the cluttered shelves fall away. The Ace of the suit of swords is the clean thought, the realization that arrives all at once, the truth you can finally say out loud, the choice that turns obvious the instant you stop hiding from it. The card honors clarity. Not every knot needs untying. Sometimes the cut was the answer the whole time.

Reversed

Reversed, the blade falls point-down into the floorboards and the light slides off it wrong, the clarity that almost came and slipped. Confusion, a message that landed crooked, the truth turned and used to wound instead of to free. Ask what you are trying to see, and whether the edge in your hand is meant to clear the way or to hurt.
