Upright

Someone slips out of the room on quiet feet, an armful of blades held against the chest, two left leaning by the door. The Seven of Swords is strategy, sometimes deception and sometimes only the choice to move alone rather than out in the open candlelight. It is not always a dark card. But it sets a harder cup in front of you, are you being clever, or are you being dishonest? The two you carry weigh as much as the two you leave behind.

Reversed

Drawn reversed, the quiet one is caught at the threshold, or the truth finally spills out warm and plain on the table. Sometimes it turns inward instead, the small cold feeling that you've been getting away with something you never earned, and the only way through is plain dealing, with others and with your own Self.

In the imagery

A figure tiptoes out of the dim reading room with five blades gathered against the chest, two left leaning by the dark wood shelf. The candles flicker as the door opens, throwing the thief's shadow long across the floor. The velvet hush and the soft gold light make the quiet exit feel like a held secret, the two left blades catching just enough glow to remind you what was set down.
