Upright

A heart pierced by three swords against a rainy sky. The Three of Swords is the grief said plainly. There's nothing to soften here. Heartbreak, betrayal, the loss that goes through. The card doesn't tell you the pain is wrong. It just witnesses it. Sometimes the work is to let the rain fall, to feel the sword exactly where it is, and to trust that the heart is bigger than the cut.

Reversed

The swords coming out, slowly. The Three of Swords reversed is the healing of an old grief — the moment forgiveness becomes possible, the moment you stop returning to the wound. Sometimes it's the opposite: the wound still there, but you've gotten so used to it you've started thinking it's the heart. The card asks you to let yourself heal. You have permission.
