Upright
The work has been seen at last, the win named out loud, the laurel set on your head in front of the room. Stand in it without shrinking. You do not have to perform smallness to stay a decent person. Take the cup raised in your honor, the people gathered are here because you earned the walk to the front, let yourself be glad of it.
Reversed
The laurel set aside, or never offered, the recognition that didn't come or came and tasted of nothing. Or the win taken too much to heart, the head swelling while the ones who helped you quietly drift off. Ask where the true victory lives, inside the work itself, or only in the clapping.
In the imagery
On the apothecary shelf a single wand stands wreathed in laurel and dried bay, lifted above the others, and a wreath hangs on the dark wood beside a row of lit candles set out in welcome. The warm gold glow falls full on it, nothing in shadow. The crowning wreath, the raised wand, the candles set in your honor carry the meaning, this is victory openly seen and rightly earned.
