Upright

Five figures swing wands at each other — but not at the same target. It looks like a fight; it's mostly a mess. The Five of Wands is conflict that isn't really conflict — the meeting where everyone is talking past each other, the team that's all pulling in different directions. The card asks you to slow down enough to hear what people actually want. The energy is there. It just isn't pointed yet.

Reversed

The wands stop swinging, sometimes for the right reason, sometimes for the wrong one. The Five of Wands reversed is conflict resolved, or conflict avoided. If you've stopped fighting because the fight is over, good. If you've stopped fighting because you've stopped showing up, the card asks you to come back. Some tension was generative. Don't bury it under politeness.
