Upright
She sits at the head of the table where the candle burns steadiest, a blade upright in one hand, the other open toward you in welcome. The Queen of Swords is the mind that has been through enough to know what it knows, direct and fair and her own, the one who tells you the truth and calls the talk back to the point. The card honors clarity that was earned the long way. Take the seat across from her. The blade is yours to hold too.
Reversed
The same chair, the same blade, but the warmth gone out of the room, truth turned cold and forgetting that kindness is also true. Or the opposite, someone hurt so often the blade is set down and the fences with it. Hold both edges, honest and warm at once.
In the imagery
A poised figure sits at the dusk table, an upright knife gleaming in the candlelight, her free hand turned palm-up among the dried sage and bay. The deep-green shadows are clean and cut, no clutter, every jar in its place. The ordered, unflinching calm of the scene carries her hard-won clarity, a warmth that has learned where its edges are.
