Upright
Beginnings, held in two careful hands. The Page of Pentacles is the new apprentice at the counter, the first day of the course, the small coin set down to learn what it can grow into. This card honors the patience of not knowing yet, the willingness to study slowly. Open the book by the candle, turn the coin over, smell the new pages. The learning is in your hands now. Start.
Reversed
Reversed, the book stays shut and the lesson drifts, the chance gone soft in a pile of other things meant for later. Or the opposite, study with no end, the apprentice who reads and reads but never lifts the tool, and the card asks you to put the learning to work before it gathers dust.
In the imagery
A young figure stands in the doorway of the apothecary at dusk, a single gold coin lifted to the candlelight, studying it the way you study a seed before you plant it. Stacked books and labeled jars wait behind on the dark shelves. The whole small scene is the hush of a first day, everything still to be learned and the hands willing.
