Upright
Two of you trudge the cold street past a warm window, locked out of a light that's right there. The card won't pretend the cold isn't real, the worry, the feeling left out, the thin coat in a hard season. But notice the window. The help is close. Sometimes the only work left is to go in.
Reversed
The figures go in. This is the recovery, the asking, the realization that the door was never locked. Sometimes it's the warmth that lives somewhere other than the bank account. Ask where you've been refusing what's offered, and why.
In the imagery
Two thin figures in worn coats pass outside in the blue dark, and through the apothecary's gold-lit window the candles, the steaming kettle, the full shelves glow just past the cold glass. Snow gathers on the sill between them and the warmth. The lit window so near the shivering pair carries the ache of help that is closer than it feels.
