Upright
A crowned figure on a stone throne, sword upright in his right hand. The King of Swords is intellect as authority — the judge, the strategist, the leader who decides clearly because someone has to. The card honors the long study, the integrity, the willingness to make hard calls. Take the chair. Make the call. Just keep the sword pointed at the problem, not the person.
Reversed
The sword used as a tool of harm. The King of Swords reversed is intellectual authority turned cruel — the manipulator, the tyrant, the boss who treats sharpness as personality. Sometimes it's the opposite: the king has been forced off the throne, his authority undermined, his clarity ignored. The card asks for the sword used in service of something larger than your own status.
