Upright

He sits at the table's head where the lamp burns even, a blade held upright and steady, the room settled around his stillness. The King of Swords is intellect made into authority, the judge, the one who weighs and decides clearly because someone has to. The card honors the long study, the plain integrity, the willingness to make the hard call. Take the chair. Make it. Only keep the blade pointed at the problem and not at the person across from you.

Reversed

The blade taken up as a weapon now, the sharp mind turned cruel, cleverness mistaken for character, money or word used to control. Or the opposite, the seat pulled out from under him, his clarity ignored and his fairness undermined. Let the blade serve something larger than your own standing.

In the imagery

A bearded figure sits upright at the dark-wood table, a knife held plumb in the steady gold light, jars and dried herbs ranked behind him in perfect order. Nothing wavers, not the flame, not the hand. The composed, weighing stillness of the scene carries his earned authority, a mind that has learned to cut clean and only when it must.
