Upright

The full hand of a life made solid. The King of Pentacles is mature mastery of the practical, the one who built the shop from bare boards, kept the family fed, made the wealth real and lasting. This card honors discipline and generosity together, the provider who has enough and shares it. Take the chair at the head of the table. The garden is yours to keep, and large enough to feed others. Tend it well, and tend it open-handed.

Reversed

Reversed, the chair is filled by greed, mastery curdled into hoarding, the keeper who has started using coin as a leash. Or the opposite, the ground gone unsteady, the shelves emptying, the house slipping, and the card asks for an honest reckoning of what the wealth is actually for and who it truly serves.

In the imagery

A bearded figure sits in the deepest chair of the apothecary, dark wood carved with the heads of bulls, dried vines and flowering branches climbing the shelves behind. One gold coin rests in his steady hand. Candlelight falls warm on a room stocked to overflowing, the calm abundance of someone who built it slow and means to share it.
