ᚠᚢᚦᚨᚱᚲ · the elder futhark
Runes
The Elder Futhark, twenty-four letters in three aetts of eight, carved into stone, wood, and bone across northern Europe from the second to the eighth century. Tacitus described Germanic tribes drawing lots from a sack of marked twigs. Reach into the pouch below and do the same, one stone at a time, turned by your own hand. We add the twentieth-century blank rune for those who prefer it.
Three stones, what's past, what's crossing, what's coming.
Tap the pouch, a stone will find your hand.
