Dreaming of Waiting

To wait and then be received, at a door, a harbor, a great house, promised that patience would be paid, a favor granted after delay.

To wait as the light fails warned that the awaited thing, ship, letter, friend, may not arrive at all. Artemidorus counseled such dreamers to make other provision.

Waiting in a dream can be the psyche's own patience, the pause before something is ready to surface. Not everything in you moves at the speed of your calendar.

Waiting for someone who never comes is the image of a life deferred, authority handed to an absent other. The dream asks how long you have sat on that bench, and whose permission you are waiting for.
