Dreaming of stars
Read two ways. Let them disagree, the truth often sits between.
Artemidorus · Oneirocritica
Drawn up, it speaks of A sky thick with clear stars foretells abundance, many friends, ventures that multiply. One bright star seen alone is the augury of a helper arriving.
Drawn down, it warns of Stars falling to earth warn of losses among the great or grief in the wider family. Dim, smoke-veiled stars counsel delay in journeys and new undertakings.
Jungian · the collective unconscious
Drawn up, it speaks of Stars are the far lights of the Self, guidance arriving from beyond the ego's small lamp. To navigate by them in a dream is to be steering by meaning, by the deep pattern, not by the day's noise.
Drawn down, it warns of Stars going out one by one speak of ideals losing their hold, the guiding images gone dim from disuse. A starless sky is the psyche without orientation, wanting a story to steer by.
