the dreamer's condition
Dreaming of Silence
Two traditional perspectives
These are symbolic interpretations from different traditions, not facts about your life or forecasts. Your associations may be different.
Artemidorus · Oneirocritica
Silence in temples and holy places was read as favor, the gods attending. A quiet dream after a season of loud ones foretold peace in the house.
The silence of a friend, or a crowd that will not answer, warned of goodwill withdrawn, words being withheld in waking life. Ask directly, the old advice ran, before the quiet sets.
Jungian · the collective unconscious
Silence in a dream can be the deep layer of the psyche, beneath words, where symbols are formed. To stand in it without fear is a kind of arrival.
A silence where sound should be, a mouth that moves and says nothing, a scream that will not come, is expression cut at the root. Something in you was told to be quiet so long it complies even in sleep.

A gentle guided reflection
Start wherever you like and skip anything that does not fit. Your notes stay in this page while it is open. They are not sent or saved automatically, and leave with the page when you close or reload it.
To keep your reflection, copy it and paste it into your dream journal (opens in a new tab). Saving there is your choice and requires an account. You can also paste it into your own notebook or notes app.
There is room for the whole story
