The lion signifies a king or a powerful man, and a friendly lion foretells favor and advancement from someone of standing.
A lion threatening predicts danger from a ruler or an illness with the beast's own force, the dreamer should walk carefully near the great.
Jungian · the collective unconscious
The lion is sovereign strength, the ego in its rightful measure, power that does not need to roar to be believed. A calm lion in the dream means the dreamer is coming into an authority that is actually theirs.
A lion that menaces or devours is that same power inflated, the inner tyrant, pride grown large enough to eat the rest of the psyche. Strength that answers to no one ends up alone in the den.
