Dreaming of Island
Two traditional perspectives
These are symbolic interpretations from different traditions, not facts about your life or forecasts. Your associations may be different.
Artemidorus · Oneirocritica
To come safely to an island denotes rescue from a difficult passage, refuge and provision where they were doubted. For traders and travelers it foretells a safe harbor mid-venture.
To be marooned warns of abandonment by partners or exclusion from the common table. An island sinking or shrinking signals support you counted on giving way.
Jungian · the collective unconscious
The island is the Self as it appears in lonely seasons, solid ground surrounded by the deep, proof there is somewhere to stand in the middle of the unconscious. Reaching one after long swimming is the psyche consolidating, a piece of you made firm.
Being stranded on an island is an isolation the ego chose once for safety and now can't unchoose. The water all around it is everything you're not letting reach you.
a few quiet questions
A gentle guided reflection
Start wherever you like and skip anything that does not fit. Your notes stay in this page while it is open. They are not sent or saved automatically, and leave with the page when you close or reload it.
To keep your reflection, copy it and paste it into your dream journal (opens in a new tab). Saving there is your choice and requires an account. You can also paste it into your own notebook or notes app.
There is room for the whole story
