Dreaming of Desert
Two traditional perspectives
These are symbolic interpretations from different traditions, not facts about your life or forecasts. Your associations may be different.
Artemidorus · Oneirocritica
To cross a desert and reach its far edge foretells profit won through endurance, the hard road that pays. Finding a well or a green place in it denotes unexpected help in a lean time.
To be lost among the sands warns of barren ventures, effort spent where nothing grows. Undertakings begun under this dream want more provisioning before they're tried.
Jungian · the collective unconscious
The desert is the stripped psyche, everything unnecessary burned away, the place the ego goes to be emptied so something truer can speak. Crossing it with water in hand is a solitude chosen on purpose, and it will feed you later.
Wandering a desert with no edge is the inner life dried out, feeling and image withdrawn, the soul on rations. It tends to visit those who have been strong too long for too many people.
a few quiet questions
A gentle guided reflection
Start wherever you like and skip anything that does not fit. Your notes stay in this page while it is open. They are not sent or saved automatically, and leave with the page when you close or reload it.
To keep your reflection, copy it and paste it into your dream journal (opens in a new tab). Saving there is your choice and requires an account. You can also paste it into your own notebook or notes app.
There is room for the whole story
