Drawn up, it speaks of Darkness is the unconscious itself, not evil, just unlit. To walk in it without a lamp and keep walking is the beginning of trust between you and your own depths.
Drawn down, it warns of Darkness that presses or pursues is shadow gathering mass, everything unexamined collected in one place. It grows by being avoided, that is the whole trick of it.
