The crow is a long-lived bird and signifies old age reached, patience rewarded, and an old woman whose counsel proves true.
Cawing crows foretell quarrels and delay, and an old debt or an old grievance coming back to be heard.
Jungian · the collective unconscious
The crow is the trickster messenger between the conscious life and the dark one, clever, watching, carrying scraps from one world to the other. Its arrival means the unconscious has something to say and has chosen a bird smart enough to deliver it.
A crow that circles or will not leave is a thought doing the same, the carrion mind, picking at what is already over. Something dead is being kept as food.
