Dreaming of book

Read two ways. Let them disagree, the truth often sits between.

Artemidorus · Oneirocritica

Drawn up, it speaks of To read a book denotes learning that turns to profit, and news arriving from a learned or distant person. An old book promises an inheritance of some kind, not always money.

Drawn down, it warns of A torn or waterlogged book warns of counsel ignored, or of a record kept against you. To lose your place in a book foretells a plan interrupted midway.

Jungian · the collective unconscious

Drawn up, it speaks of The book is the recorded self, everything you have lived pressed flat and waiting to be read again. An open book is the psyche offering its own material for study, memory turning willing.

Drawn down, it warns of A book you cannot read, a language that swims, is knowledge in you not yet ripened into words. A closed or forbidden book is a chapter of your own story kept shelved out of reach.

Did you dream this?

Keep it before it fades

Write the dream down in your journal and the cards will name its symbols for you, or have the whole dream read in full.
