The bear is the great mother of the instincts, hibernation and return, strength that knows how to rest. A calm bear means the dreamer is learning the animal patience of going under in winter and rising fed.
An enraged bear is the devouring side of the mother complex, care turned to smothering, protection turned to appetite. Ask whose love in your life has teeth.
