where the dream is set

Dreaming of attic

Read two ways. Let them disagree, the truth often sits between.

Artemidorus · Oneirocritica

Drawn up, it speaks of To find good things stored in the upper rooms foretells resources forgotten and recovered, an old skill or claim returning to value. High rooms in good repair denote honors from above your station.

Drawn down, it warns of A leaking or ruined roof-room warns of trouble arriving from superiors, or from plans made in a proud season. What is stored too long in high places is often found spoiled.

Jungian · the collective unconscious

Drawn up, it speaks of The attic is the psyche's upper room, ideas, ideals, the mental inheritance stored overhead, things thought but not yet lived. Finding treasures there means the higher mind has gifts it's been holding for you, old ambitions still in working order.

Drawn down, it warns of A crowded, airless attic points to a life carried on above the neck, spirit hoarded instead of spent. Noises overhead you refuse to go up and check are the mind's unfinished business, pacing the boards.
