Hour of the Rabbit

05:00 to 07:00 · East · dawn, the rabbit in the wet grass

Branch: 卯 Mao
Hours: 05:00 to 07:00
Direction: East

The hour itself

First light, when the rabbit comes out to the dew-wet grass and the world is soft and new. The gentle opening of the day in the east.

The secret self

Those born in this double-hour carry the Rabbit as their hidden hour-self, the private creature only the closest people meet. The clock remembers it like this:

Born in the Rabbit hour, your secret self is softer than your mask, and quicker. Under the surface is a tenderness the world reads as fragility, and a fast accurate mind that has survived by paying attention.
The dawn animal in you knows when a room has gone sour before anyone else does, and will leave it gently, without a scene. Honour that instinct, but make sure you are not just avoiding the talk you owe.
Your hidden hour is the soft opening of the day. There is a love of beautiful things in you, a hand that wants to make the small space a sanctuary. This is not vanity; it is how your secret self keeps itself whole.
Inside you is a diplomat who steers the moment so gently no one notices the hand on the wheel. The gift is peace-keeping; the shadow is the boundary no one was told about until it was already drawn.
The Rabbit at dawn chooses peace and means it. Your secret self gives endless second chances and then one day is quietly gone. Let the people who matter see you decide out loud, just once.

Secret friend (六合)

狗the Dog, the quiet red thread across the dial.

The clash (六沖)

雞the Rooster, straight across, the axis of tension and growth.

More on the Rabbit

Soft fur over a fast heart, ears that hear before the ears know they are hearing. The Rabbit lives close to the moon, close to the garden, close to the door it knows it can leave through. There is a tenderness here that the world reads as fragility and the Rabbit lets it, because the misreading is also a protection. Underneath the softness is a quick and accurate intelligence, a body that has survived by paying attention. You will hear about elegance, about gentleness, about a love of beautiful things. All true. The fuller picture is a creature that has learned the art of the soft step, the right friend, the warm burrow lined just so. The Rabbit chooses peace and means it, and will leave any room that has stopped being peaceful without making a scene.
