Cepheus circles the pole all year, never setting, the way a worried parent never fully sleeps. He watches for the ones in the middle, standing between two people they love who are pulling different directions, holding a door frame while the house shakes. He knows you can't fix it, he couldn't either. What he offers instead is the long view from up there, the boast was forgiven, the daughter came home, the monster turned to stone, and the family, against every odd, is still together in the sky. Stay in the doorway. It matters more than it feels like it does.
