A longing, white as bone, bloomed across the shore. He came, a bull, strong and impossibly gentle, a breath of soft morning. Europa, drawn to the velvet of his flank, the curve of his horn. She laid her hand there, then climbed onto his back, trusting the quiet strength. The sea rose, a silent whisper, carrying them away, past the pale stars that would later hold his shoulders. A journey begun in curiosity, ending in a name etched across the land, across the dark water.
Slow, warm, stubborn is a fine way to cross a sea, keep swimming.
