Astraea stayed longer than any of them. The other gods left when the Golden Age curdled, but she kept walking among people, weighing what was fair, hoping the cruelty was a phase. It wasn't. When she finally climbed into the stars she looked back once, the way you do at a house you loved and can't live in, and set her scales down in the sky behind her. Not a goodbye. More like leaving the porch light on.
