Asclepius
the snake-handler, the healer
The snake remembers it differently. She was only doing what snakes do, carrying an herb to her fallen sister, shedding one life for the next, and a man watched her too closely. Humans are like that. He took her medicine and used it on their dead, raised one too many, and drew the thunderbolt down. Now she winds around his hand in the stars, patient, the way medicine is patient. She taught him the secret. She stays to make sure he holds it gently.
