Upright

A wall comes down. Or a story does. The thing you built around the soft part of you — the explanation, the routine, the small lie that let you keep going — and now it's on the ground, smoke in your hair. There is no gentle way to read this card. Only the truth that what's collapsing was already hollow. The lightning didn't make it fall. It only made it visible. What's underneath, when the dust settles, is the thing the wall was hiding from. Hold it anyway.

Reversed

The Tower already fell, or you're walking through a controlled demolition you started yourself. Sometimes the card reversed is the warning you finally listened to in time. Sometimes it's the slow collapse, brick by brick, instead of the lightning. Either way: the wall is coming down. The question is whether you take it apart on your terms or wait for the sky to do it for you.

In the imagery

A tall stone tower struck by lightning, its golden crown blown off. Flames lick from the windows. Two figures fall from the heights — a king in robes, a woman, both falling head-first. Twenty-two flames, the size of the major arcana, drift in the dark sky. The ground below is barren. The lightning has the shape of a hand.
