Upright

She sits between two shelves in the back of the shop, one of dark wood, one pale, a crescent of moon-water cool at her feet. She tells you nothing. She is waiting for you to go quiet enough to hear what you already carry. The High Priestess is the part of you the loud parts have been talking over all day. There's an answer in your body right now, in how your shoulders sit, in what your chest does when a certain name is said over the counter. Trust it before you can explain it.

Reversed

The two shelves still stand, but you've stopped passing between them. Reversed, she is intuition gone quiet, hushed by other voices, by your own dismissals, by the noise of trying to be reasonable. Sometimes she is a secret kept so long it has gone stale in the jar. Let it have air. The body knew first, and it still knows.

In the imagery

A robed figure sits in the candle-dim between two tall apothecary shelves, one stained near black, one bare and pale. A thin dish of moon-water rests at her feet, holding a crescent of reflected light. Behind her hangs a curtain dried with pomegranate skins and dark seeds, the fruit of the lower rooms. A scroll lies half-tucked in her lap, a small cross at her chest, her robe the deep blue of water in shadow. Two, and the hush between.
