Upright
A woman in a white dress, a crown of flowers, her hands resting gently on the open mouth of a lion. The lion is not afraid. Neither is she. Strength in this card isn't force, it's the kind of presence that doesn't need to raise its voice. There's something wild in you. It doesn't need to be killed. It needs to be loved into shape. This card is what gentleness looks like when it isn't weak.
Reversed
The same lion, but no one's touching it now. Strength reversed is the fear that has stopped being held — the temper that flares, the addiction that takes over, the self-doubt that closes the throat. Sometimes it's the opposite: you've been so gentle for so long that you've forgotten you have teeth. Either way, the card asks where the courage has gone. It hasn't left. You just have to put your hand on the lion again.
In the imagery
A woman in a long white robe stands beside a tawny lion, gently closing or perhaps opening its mouth. A crown of flowers sits on her head, a chain of flowers loops down. Above her, the infinity symbol. The lion is heavy with mane and muscle and lets her hand stay. The mountain behind, blue sky. Power without violence.
