Two traditions of dream reading
Dream Journal
Write what you remember of a dream below. We will pull out the symbols we recognize, read each one in the tradition you choose, and surface any pairings the tradition has notes on. For a full written interpretation by Dylan, see the instant interpretation.
The 2nd-century Greek master of dream interpretation. Artemidorus collected thousands of dreams and tracked which ones came true under which circumstances. His rule: a symbol's meaning depends on who is dreaming it, what they hope for, and what is happening in their waking life.
Or tap symbols — pick as many as you like
Each symbol — Artemidorus
fish
creatures, instincts
If favorable: Catching fish is a good augury — the sea always yields. Eating the fish, particularly cooked, signals modest gain.
If shadowed: Many small fish all at once predict trivial troubles; a great fish that escapes the line is an opportunity missed.
wedding
the dreamer's condition
If favorable: A wedding feast foretells joy in the family, even when no actual wedding is near.
If shadowed: An interrupted wedding warns against speaking too soon of a happy plan.
eyes
the body, parts of self
If favorable: Clear eyes denote a guide arriving — a child, a teacher, the eye of someone who sees you well.
If shadowed: Blindness in a dream is a warning to attend the household; eyes wounded signal a child or kin endangered.
